Service Description

This course comprises one of a total of three modules required to complete a guitar. 5 days of guitar making with your choice to build either a Parlour, OM, 000 or Dreadnought guitar under the expert guidance of master luthier Alex Bishop. Building the soundbox (week 1): At the end of the first one week course, students will have finished making the key components that comprise the body of the guitar - completing the back, voicing the top, and bending the sides of the guitar. Two further one week courses are required to finish the guitar: Constructing the neck (week 2): At the end of this week, students will have finished making the neck, learning to carve the headstock and heel, and discover the critical measurements that are necessary to make a comfortable guitar. They will also bind the guitar body. Final assembly (week 3): At the end of this week, students will have completed their guitar, finalising the critical neck the neck to body join, polishing the fretwork, finishing with an oil finish and setting up. All materials and tools provided. Materials provided are for a spruce top, mahogany neck, and mahogany back and sides. Upgraded materials and hardware available at an extra cost.
