For students looking to commit to a regular lesson slot outside of the usual 9-5, we run an evening class on Wednesdays 6-9pm. Students can enjoy the guitar building process at a pace that suits them, in a friendly environment among other fellow makers.
Just like our one-to-one classes, students are taken through every intricate part of the guitar making process, from developing the initial design right through to wood selection, construction, side bending, fretting, set up, polishing and of course... playing!
The methods used are predominantly hand-tool based with occasional power-tool use. You will be working alongside up to two other students as well as master luthier Alex Bishop, who will help prepare you for every stage of the process.
Materials (wood, strings, hardware etc) are not included in the cost, but these can be provided. Please see the materials price list. Students are also welcome to source their own timber if they wish.
It takes most students around 80 hours to complete their first guitar.
